"Jazz on Friday night. Twinkle string lights. Full walls of mirrors. Dancers friendly and honed their crafts. Come by."

What is Lindy Hop?

Also known as Jitterbug, Lindy Hop was born in Harlem, New York City in the 1920’s and spread rapidly to dominate dance halls across America from the Great Depression through World War II. It is an unabashedly joyful dance, with a loose and swinging style that closely reflects its music — from the late 1920’s 'hot' jazz to the early 1940’s big bands. According to legend, the name Lindy Hop was inspired by Charles Lindbergh’s famous flight across the Atlantic in 1927, when newspaper headlines read: “Lindberg Hops Off For Paris."
